About

The Lebanese Geotechnical Engineering Society is established by the Lebanese Orders of Engineers in Beirut and Tripoli, in line with the decision of the Unified Council of the Order. Its headquarters is located at the Lebanese Orders of Engineers and Architects.

LGES is composed of individual members of either of the Lebanese Orders, who have registered with, and have fully paid their subscription fees to their respective Orders and to the Society.

LGES aims to adhere to the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering (ISSMGE), to promote international cooperation amongst engineers and scientists, for the advancement of knowledge in the field of geotechnics and its engineering applications.

Behind the LGES Logo

The logo of the Lebanese Geotechnical Engineering Society symbolizes the deep connection between Lebanon’s natural heritage and the science of the ground beneath our feet.
The upper element represents the Cedar of Lebanon, a timeless national symbol of strength, resilience, and continuity. Beneath it, the layered forms illustrate the stratification of the earth, reflecting the core of geotechnical engineering—understanding soil and rock to support safe and sustainable development.
Together, the cedar and ground layers express the Society’s mission: building on strong foundations while honoring Lebanon’s identity and enduring roots.
